Teams that play together stay together… and thrive!

Sometimes, the papers need to be set down, the laptops need to close, and everyone needs to connect with their co-workers in a different way. When a team is given R&R, stresses diminish, relationships are strengthened, and a certain harmony is heightened…potentially indefinitely. This has major benefits to a company’s day to day functioning, flow, and bottom line. Reward your team with both relaxation and play, and create unforgettable moments of laughter and reflection that strengthen team productivity long after you return to the work place.

A fun but challenging getaway is the perfect opportunity to superdrive this cohesion! With elements of health and wellness intertwined with rugged Alaskan adventure, everyone will appropriately be cajoled out of their comfort zone in a fun and thoughtful manner with a Sovereign Light Corporate Retreat!

Highlight Experiences

Check out these signature activities that will likely be a highlight of your teams adventure! Which one will be your teams favorite?

SnowCat Wine Tour

See another side of North America’s Largest Road-Accessible Glacier like
no one ever does, from a SnowCat track rig, as you crawl off-road through the trees and over the moraine as close as possible to the face of the glacier…in the dark! Artificial illumination puts a whole new feeling to the classic blue ice of the Matanuska Glacier! Periodically exit the SnowCat to visit a different featured wine at various stations set up on the trail. Enjoy local fruit wines from Old Bear Honey, along with classic reds and whites (wine list available and amendable). This never before offered SnowCat Wine Tour is a uniquely Alaskan group experience that leaves an indelible impression of having shared something truly exclusive and rare.

Scavenger Hunt Race

Hang on to your hat! This unbridled and raucous group scavenger hunt will leave everyone aching for more but also glad it’s over! Competitors will have no-holds-barred challenges that target physical skill, mental acuity, problem solving, and more! First Aid and CPR knowledge will be highlighted (keep those skills fresh by practicing under pressure!), and obscure individual anecdotes obtained in a pre-retreat survey make this game personal, and challenge how well you know your co-workers. With hints of Survivor, and unexpected twists, this unforgettable scavenger hunt-race is an absolute hoot to successfully finish!

Mix and Match

Every company culture is unique!

Instead of a pre-made package, just “click, drag, and drop” our available activities into the standard two-night stay. Build your own package unique to you and your company’s needs and interests. Activities are either adventure based and might induce some adrenaline, or Wellness based and work to make serotonin and dopamine predominate. Start with the base price and the automatic inclusions, then choose any add-on activities for the specific extra fee per person. Talk to us about the feasibility and logistics of which activities paired together make for a smooth, unhurried day (for example, the SnowCat Wine Tour is only after dinner, after glacier access has closed). Breakfast is delivered to your cabin, and lunch may be packed with us, depending on activity, weather, etc. You only have to watch the clock to not be late for dinner at Long Rifle Lodge by 6:30 pm!

Frequently Asked Questions.

It means no plumbing is in the cabin. A jug of water with a pump top is used. Restroom facilities are in a separate building a short outdoor walk away (30 feet to Polaris Cabin, 70 feet to Blue Moon Cabin, and 200 feet to Aurora Cabin). Each cabin has a private, dedicated bathroom, but all the bathrooms are in the same building. (Renovations in progress!)

Any airfare to Alaska and transportation to Sheep Mountain, which is a two hour drive from Anchorage. A rental car is advised if you don’t have your own. Alcohol. [Note: Dinner the afternoon/evening of arrival is provided, as well as breakfast the morning of checkout]

Summer: We recommend dressing in light layers, as we are in an alpine desert. At 2,200 ft elevation, the temperature swings are a bit more dramatic than elsewhere in Alaska. A set of rain gear is good insurance, as is footwear that can get muddy and is suitable for a moderate hike. A light day pack would be helpful for carrying water bottles, hat, sunglasses, etc.

Winter: warm, windproof clothing suitable down to -20F.

We are an hour away from any medical care or even a basic convenience store. The cabins are just  off the main road, so 4WD is not necessary, though advisable in the winter months.

50% of the total is required to hold. 50% required 2 weeks prior. If you must cancel after that, 50% is refunded, unless we can fill your spot (and then 100% will be refunded)

Most all levels of fitness can be accommodated, but a moderate hike lasting up to about 3 hours is anticipated. For immersive glacier experiences, you will need to carry a 9 pound camp chair in a carrying case with strap. If you’re opting for an extended stay with other activities, check out their respective websites; ie, please see Nova Alaska’s River Rafting guidelines (swimming proficiency required) for the whitewater rafting.

The entire venue is reserved for your company, and up to 12 people can stay at Little Bear Getaway Cabins. Each cabin has a Queen and a Twin bed, plus an available cot or trundle, so three can easily sleep in each cabin, but technically four…if the fourth person has a youthful back!

We are eating with you, and we like to fuel our bodies well. Expect high protein meals, with no refined white sugar, bovine dairy, or grains, unless it’s our homemade authentic sourdough or gluten free oats. We do serve meat, but that can be omitted per your request, as could any allergenic foods. Think sausage, egg and chopped veggies in an almond flour wrap; baked oatmeal with walnuts and birch syrup; bacon, lettuce, tomato on sourdough; tuna dip and chips; quinoa apple salad, etc.

While the activities available are “set,” the possibilities for customization are endless. Talk to Kaydee about how business and group tunings work with specific intentions going into the session, or how she can make even the Scavenger Hunt highly personalized.
